HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project.  I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library.  These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others.  This library is open to everyone and is free!  You can access the library here. Look for the file called Ornament Favor BA2413. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 13.

STEP 2: CUT THE PIECES

Open the design in your software program. Resize everything to 8.5″ wide and let the height adjust proportionally.  This will make the circles big enough for a tootsie pop to fit in the center. The circles and ornament top have perforation lines that will be cut with a regular blade.  If you’re using Cricut Design Space, ungroup the design.  Then, you’ll need to attach the perforation lines to the shape behind it.   You can use the pen tool to write a name on the tag, or you can hand write it.  Once everything is sized correctly, cut out the pieces with your Cricut or Silhouette.

Once the cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat. It’s best to flip over the mat and gently bend it over until the cardstock releases. This way, the cardstock shouldn’t get bent.

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE FAVORS

Each ornament will use 6 circles pieces, 1 bow, 1 rectangle strip, and 1 tag. You’ll also need a tootsie pop and ribbon to finish it off.

Start by gluing the rectangle around the tootsie pop stick.

Fold all the circles in half along the perforation marks.

When you’re adding the glue to the top of the piece, leave a small gap so the glue doesn’t go all the way to the edge of the paper. This will just make it a little easier to put the tootsie pop inside of the ornament.

Glue all six pieces together.

Now, place the tootsie pop in the center and wrap the cardstock around the stick.

Fold back the tab of the ornament topper and add glue.  Then, fold the topper in half.

Once the glue is dry, you can slide the topper over the Tootsie Pop stick.

Glue the bow to the top of the stick.

Thread some ribbon through the hole on the tag and tie it around the stick.

That’s it. This project is finished. Now you have an adorable ornament favor to place on your Christmas table.
