HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
- Sublimation Ceramic Coasters (I used these)
- Sublimation Transfer Sheet (I used these)
- Heat Resistant Tape
- Easy Press or Heat Press
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore or maker, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File – Deck the Halls BA2424 (click here to get the SVG file for free from my free SVG Library)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE
The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project. I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library. These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free! You can access the library here. Look for the file called Deck the Halls BA2424. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 24.
STEP 2: CUT AND WEED SUBLIMATION SHEET
Open the design in your software program and resize it to fit your ceramic coaster. When everything has been sized correctly, you can cut the designs with your Cricut or Silhouette.
Gently roll cut design so cut lines separate and are more visible. This is called “cracking” and it makes it easier to remove the excess paper from around your design.
Use your fingers to carefully remove the excess pieces from around your design.
Cut around the out side of the design and remove the excess paper.
STEP 3: SUBLIMATE THE COASTER
Use a lint roller or transfer tape to remove any lint from the coaster.
Place the design over the coaster and secure with heat resistant tape.
Apply heat to the coaster. The paper I used said to apply heat at 375 degrees for 180 seconds. I have the original easy press, which only heats to 360 degrees, but it worked! I just placed the heat press on top of the coaster and let it sit for 3 minutes.
Let design cool. Then, remove the sublimation paper.
Remove the backing from the cork board and apply to the back of the coaster.
And this Christmas coaster is finished!
