HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project.  I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library.  These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free!  You can access the library here. Look for the file called Snowman Hat BA2302. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2023 Category-Day 2.

STEP 2: CUT THE PIECES FOR THE SNOWMAN HAT

Open the design in your software program. Resize the design to 10.5″ wide, leaving the height proportional.  If you are using Cricut Design Space, you will need to ungroup and separate all the layers.  Then, select the black rectangle and the perforation lines and click attach. For this project, you’ll need black, red, and two shades of green cardstock.

Once the first piece of cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat.  You’ll want to slightly bend the cutting mat and carefully pull off the cardstock.

Load on the next color and repeat until everything has been cut.

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE HAT

Fold down the top portion of the tab on the side of the rectangle.  Form a circle with the rectangle.  Place the bottom of the tab in the slit, followed by the top folded portion to create the top of the hat. Once the tab is inside of the slit, you can unfold the top of it.

Fold the tabs toward to center of the hat along the perforation lines.  Add some glue to each tab.

Press the tabs onto the center of the black circle.

Push down on all the tabs to help them stick to the circle.

Form the hat band by inserting the tab into the slit, just like you did on the top of the hat.

Slide the hat band over the top of the hat.

STEP 4: ADD EMBELLISHMENTS

Add some glue to the bottom two rows of leaves on the vine.

Press the vine onto the hat band.  You want it to be just a little bit off-center.

Put some glue on the bottom of the two holly leaves and press them on the band over the vine.

Finish off the hat by gluing on the three red berries.

Fill up the hat with some yummy Christmas treats and this project is finished!
