HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE
The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project. I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library. These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free! You can access the library here. Look for the file called Reindeer Mini Milk Carton BA2412. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 12.
STEP 2: CUT THE PIECES
Open the design in your cutting software and resize it to 8.5″ wide, let the height adjust proportionally. The milk carton has perforation lines that will be cut with a regular blade. If you’re using Cricut Design Space, ungroup the design. Then, you’ll need to attach the perforation lines to the shape behind it. Once everything is sized correctly, cut out the pieces with your Cricut or Silhouette.
Once the cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat. It’s best to flip over the mat and gently bend it over until the cardstock releases. This way, the cardstock shouldn’t get bent.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE MILK CARTON
To make the milk carton, you’ll want to fold along the perforation lines. You’ll want to fold the lines along the sides and the bottom back.
Fold the angled lines and the lines between them forward.
Add glue around the edge of the acetate. If your acetate has a clear protective film, be sure to remove it before gluing.
Place the clear square over the center of the circle. Make sure it doesn’t go over any of the perforation lines.
Next, assemble the reindeer. There are lots of small pieces, so it’s best to use tweezers for this step.
Glue on the nose, eyes, antlers, ears, hooves, holly and berry.
Add some glue on the back of the reindeer. Only add glue about half way up the reindeers head.
Glue the reindeer over the circle cutout.
Flip the milk carton over, fold back the side tab, and add some glue.
Fold the box in half to glue the tab in place.
Once that’s dry, it’s time to glue the bottom. Add some glue to each to tab and press them all together. Fold the smaller tabs in first, followed by the larger tabs.
Fill the box up with some candy.
Then, press the sides in like on a milk carton.
Thread some ribbon through the holes at the top.
Tie a bow.
Trim off any excess ribbon on the ends.
And that’s all there is to it! This cute little milk carton is ready to go!
