HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
- Cardstock (I used red, white, black, and yellow)
- Liquid Glue
- Candy Cane
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore or maker, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File – Penguin Candy Cane Holder BA2402 (click here to get the SVG file for free from my free SVG Library)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE
The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project. I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library. These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free! You can access the library here. Look for the file called Penguin Candy Cane Holder BA2402. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 2.
STEP 2: CUT THE CARDSTOCK PIECES
Open the design in your software program. Resize the design to 6″ high and let the width adjust proportionally. Cut the design out of red, white, black, and yellow cardstock.
Once the cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat. You’ll want to slightly bend the cutting mat and carefully pull off the cardstock.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE PENGUIN
Start by gluing the white brim and white circle onto the red hat shape.
Then, glue the hat onto the penguin body.
Next, glue the white cutout onto the black body. Then, glue the eyes, beak, scarf, and feet onto the body.
Add a little glue to the top of one of the arms.
Glue the arms together. They should look kind-of like a mustache.
Use hot glue to attach the candy cane to the penguin.
Add glue to the bottom of the arms.
Place the arms over the candy cane and press into place.
And now you have a super cute to give candy canes away for the holidays!
