HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project.  I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library.  These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free!  You can access the library here. Look for the file called Kisses Christmas Tree BA2405. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 5.

STEP 2: CUT THE CARDSTOCK

Open the design in your software program. Resize the design to 11.5″ wide and let the height adjust proportionally.   If you are using Cricut Design Space, you will need select everything and click attach.  This will attach the perforation lines to the shapes behind them.  Cut out the pieces in green cardstock.

To remove the cardstock from the cutting matt, you’ll want to slightly bend the cutting mat and carefully pull off the pieces.

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE CHRISTMAS TREE

Fold the second longest strip along the perforation lines.

Add some glue to the shortest end.

Glue to the side to form a triangle.

Grab the smallest piece and fold along the perforation lines so it makes a small triangle. Place in at the top of the large triangle.

Grab the next shortest piece.  Fold along the perforation lines.  Fold the first two sections forward.

Then, fold the next two sections backwards.

Fold the last two sections forwards and you should end up with the strip looking like this.

Place that strip inside the large triangle.

Repeat folding two sections forward, two sections backwards, and so on with the last strip.  It will look like this when it’s finished.

Place that strip at the bottom of the large triangle shape.

Begin inserting the kisses into the triangle shaped spaces.

It will be a little tight getting the last couple of kisses into the triangle.  It should be tight enough that the kisses don’t fall out when you lift up the tree.

Once they’re all in place, adjust the kisses until the triangle looks symmetrical.

Tie some ribbon around the tree with the knot at the top.

Tie a bow and trim off the excess on the ends.

And that’s the last step.  Now, you have a cute little Hershey Kisses Christmas tree!
