HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project.  I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library.  These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free!  You can access the library here. Look for the file called 3D Ornament BA2415. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 15.

STEP 2: CUT AND ASSEMBLE CARDSTOCK

Open the design in your software program. Resize the height to 1.75″ and let the width adjust proportionally.  The circles have perforation lines that will be cut with a regular blade.  If you’re using Cricut Design Space, ungroup the design.  Then, you’ll need to attach the perforation lines to the shape behind it.   Once everything is sized correctly, cut out the pieces with your Cricut or Silhouette.

Once the cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat. It’s best to flip over the mat and gently bend it over until the cardstock releases. This way, the cardstock shouldn’t get bent.

Fold all the circles in half along the perforation marks.

Glue two of the pieces together. The pieces are symmetrical so it doesn’t matter which end is the top or bottom.

Repeat until all the pieces are glued together.

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE SIGN

Next, we’re going to assemble the sign. I found this cute little sign from Dollar Tree.  It was cute, but I thought it needed a Christmas makeover.  If you can’t find this exact sign, you can use any square sign and just skip the using the white frame.

Remove the square frame.

Glue a piece of scrapbook paper over the original sign.

Use sandpaper to make the edges of the paper even with the sign.

Glue the white frame back onto the sign.

Next, glue the holly leaves inside the square frame.

Glue a red button and a gold bow over the holly leaves.

Finish off the sign by gluing the ornament below the holly leaves.

And that’s it; a fun Dollar Tree makeover is complete.  It turned out so cute!
