HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
- Cardstock (I used a red Christmas print and gold glitter)
- Acetate (I used this)
- Glue
- Green Chocolate Candies (I used these)
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore or maker, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File – Christmas Tree Candy Pouch BA2407 (click here to get the SVG file for free from my free SVG Library)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE
The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project. I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library. These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free! You can access the library here. Look for the file called Christmas Tree Candy Pouch BA2407. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 7.
STEP 2: CUT THE CARDSTOCK
Open the design in your software program. Resize the design to 6″ high and let the width adjust proportionally. If you are using Cricut Design Space, you will need ungroup everything. Then select the red shape and the perforation lines and click attach. This will attach the perforation lines to the shapes behind them. Cut the star and red shape out of cardstock. The tree should be cut out of clear acetate.
To remove the cardstock from the cutting matt, you’ll want to slightly bend the cutting mat and carefully pull off pieces.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE CANDY HOLDER
Fold along all the perforation lines.
Add glue around the edge of the Christmas tree shape. If your acetate has a clear protective film, be sure to remove it before gluing.
Place the clear tree over the cutout tree of the cardstock. Make sure it doesn’t go over any of the perforation lines.
Fold over the side tab and add glue.
Fold the cardstock in half to form a triangle and press the end onto the glue.
Glue the star to the top of the tree.
Open up the pouch and add some green chocolate candies. You don’t need to add a lot of candy, just enough so when the pouch is flat, you see the green candy behind the clear acetate instead of the cardstock.
Put some glue on the bottom tab.
Fold the tab around the pouch and press it onto the back.
And this candy holder is complete!
