Welcome to day 3 of my 25 days of Craftmas series. Today, I’m showing you how to make these cute mitten favors. There are two styles to choose from and I think they are both adorable. They can be filled with candy or small toys and they make such a cute favor for Christmas. I’m excited to show you how to make your own. Read on for the full tutorial!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project.  I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library.  These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free!  You can access the library here. Look for the file called Christmas Mitten BA2103. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2022 Category-Day 3.

STEP 2: CUT THE PIECES FOR THE MITTENS

Open the design in your software program. There are enough pieces to create 2 mitten favors. I’m going to resize everything to 11″ tall.  This will make the mittens about 5″ tall when they’re finished. You can make the mittens bigger or smaller depending on what you are going to fill them with.

Once the first piece of cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat.  You’ll want to slightly bend the cutting mat and carefully pull off the cardstock.

Load on the next color and repeat until everything has been cut.

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE FAVORS

We are going to start with the mitten that has the white lining and cuff.

Grab one of the mitten pieces with the designs cut out and add a thin line of glue around the edge.

Then, press the white and red pieces together.

Grab one of the plain red mittens and add a thin line of glue around the edge of that piece. Make sure you’re putting the glue on the correct side of the mitten.  Don’t put any glue on the top of the cuff.

Press the two mitten pieces together.  The white cardstock should be in the middle.

Finally, glue the cuff into place.

Next, we’re going to do the mitten without the lining and cuff.

Grab one of the mitten pieces and add a thin line of glue around the edge  Remember, don’t put any glue on the top of the cuff.

Then, press the front and back pieces together.

STEP 4: ADD EMBELLISHMENTS

To finish off the mittens, you can glue on some Christmas embellishments.  I used some pine, berries, and a bell.

Then, I glued on a little bow.

Open up the mitten and add your treats.

And that’s it. Now you have some super cute favors for Christmas.
