Welcome to Day 7 of my 25 days of Craftmas series! This week, I’m going to be sharing lots of projects that are fast and easy to make – projects that take 15-20 minutes or less to make after you have everything cut!  Today, I’m showing how to turn a plain Dollar Tree mason jar into a super cute Christmas decoration. These mason jars are great for you own home decorating and they also make great gifts. Read on for the full tutorial.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE

The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project.  I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library.  These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others.  This library is open to everyone and is free!  You can access the library here. Look for the file called Peace & Joy. It will be listed under the category-Craftmas 2020 – Day 7.

STEP 2: CUT AND WEED VINYL

Open the design in your software program and size it to 2.5″ wide and leave the height proportional.

When everything is sized correctly, you can cut the design with your Cricut or Silhouette. Once it has finished cutting, weed away the excess vinyl.

Cut a piece of transfer tape a little bigger than the design and place it over the vinyl. Trim off the excess transfer tape.

Then, rub over it with your scraper.

STEP 3: APPLY VINYL TO THE MASON JAR

Flip the design over and pull off the vinyl backing.

Then, position it on the mason jar.

Rub over the vinyl with your scraper.

Remove the transfer tape.

STEP 4:  ADD EMBELLISHMENTS TO THE MASON JAR

Now, we’re going to make this mason jar look a little more like Christmas.   Remove the wire hanger and apply a layer of Mod Podge around the outside rim of the jar.

Then, sprinkle epsom salt over the Mod Podge.  If there are any bare areas, you can add a little more Mod Podge and then sprinkle with salt.

Wrap some jute twine around the top of the jar and couple of time and tie it in a bow.

Then, glue on some pine and berries to complete the jar.

Add some Epsom salt and a small votive candle to complete the project.

Doesn’t it look pretty?
