HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
- Cardstock (I used white and green)
- Liquid Glue
- Hot Cocoa Packet
- Candy Cane Spoon or Candy Cane
- Marshmallows, Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark, etc. (Optional)
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore or maker, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File – Christmas Hot Chocolate Mug Envelope BA2311 (click here to get the SVG file for free from my free SVG Library)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE
The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project. I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library. These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free! You can access the library here. Look for the file called Christmas Hot Chocolate Mug Envelope. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2023 Category-Day 11.
STEP 2: CUT THE CARDSTOCK PIECES
Open the design in your software program. Keep everything grouped together and resize the design to 4.5″ high. This will make an envelope that is about 3.5″ x 4″. Once everything is resized, you can cut the pieces. If you’re using Cricut Design Space, you’ll need to ungroup the design and separate the layers. Then, attach the perforation lines to the green shapes.
Once the cardstock is finished cutting, remove it from the cutting mat. Slightly bend the mat to remove the cardstock pieces.
STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE ENVELOPE
Glue the Christmas tree onto the mug shape. Make sure you glue it on the side with the handle.
Fold along all the perforation lines of the mug and the bottom piece.
Add glue to one of the tabs of the bottom section.
Flip the mug over and glue the bottom section to the back of the mug. The bottom of that piece should match up with the bottoms of both sides of the mug.
Fold the tab on the side of the mug back and add some glue.
Fold the mug in half and attach the side of the mug to the tab.
Make sure the edges line up.
Put some glue on the bottom tab.
Push the tab into the mug.
Make sure the sides and the bottom line up.
Reach inside and push the tab onto the side of the mug.
Place a hot cocoa packet inside the mug.
Add a candy cane spoon, marshmallows, and a sweet holiday treat.
I found the candy cane spoons at Dollar Tree. They weren’t individually wrapped, so I put them in clear 2″ x 6″ bags. I put the mini marshmallows in 2″ x 3″ bags. I finished it off by adding a mini Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark Square.
And that’s all there is to it. This hot chocolate mug envelope is ready to give away!
