I think spring has finally arrived and I am so excited! Here is a fun little project that I thought was so perfect for welcoming spring. I was able to make it with scrap wood, so it didn’t cost me anything! All you need are some wood scraps, paint, and vinyl.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
- Wood Pieces (Sizes can vary)
- Vinyl (Some for the stencils, white for the door openings)
- Transfer Tape
- Wood Glue
- Paint (I used acrylic paints)
- Paintbrushes
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File (available for free in my resource library)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
In your vinyl cutting software, open the birdhouse design and resize to fit on your wood. Then, I printed the pieces out on your printer, cut them out, and trace them onto your wood. If your vinyl cutting software doesn’t print, you can also cut the shapes out of vinyl..
Cut out and sand each piece. Glue together the roof pieces.
Pick out some fun bright colors and paint all the pieces.
Cut out vinyl stencils with your machine to add some fun designs to each birdhouse.
After the designs are painted and dried to the touch remove then vinyl. Wait until the paint has fully dried and then add the stencil for the doors.
Paint the doors.
Once that has dried, remove the vinyl stencils. You can create additional stencils for the white part of the door or you can just cut the doors out of white and apply to the birdhouses. Once all the paint has dried, glue on the roofs.
These birdhouses would be cute hanging or sitting on a shelf or table.

Since mine will be sitting on a shelf, I glued all three houses to a small wooden strip to keep them from falling over. I think they look so cute for spring!
