HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
STEP 1: DOWNLOAD THE FREE SVG FILE
The first thing you’ll need to do is get the free SVG file you’ll use for this project. I keep all the SVG files I use for the projects I make in my SVG Library. These SVG files work with Cricut and Silhouette machines, as well as many others. This library is open to everyone and is free! You can access the library here. Look for the file called JOY in Wreath BA2417. It will be listed under the Craftmas 2024 Category-Day 17.
STEP 2: CUT AND WEED VINYL DESIGN
Open the design in your software program and resize it to fit the wooden circles. My circles measures about 3.75″, so I resized the design to be about 3.5″ tall. When everything has been sized correctly, you can cut the designs with your Cricut or Silhouette.
Remove the vinyl from your cutting mat and trim off any unused vinyl. Weed away the excess vinyl from around the design.
Use the weeding tool to help remove the excess vinyl from inside the wreaths. Note – this is a very detailed design and it will take quite a bit of time to weed.
Cut a piece of transfer tape and place it sticky side up on your surface. Then place the vinyl on top of the transfer tape and smooth it down.
Rub over the design firmly with your scraper tool.
Then, trim off the excess transfer tape and vinyl backing and cut apart the three designs.
STEP 3: COVER THE WOOD SIGN
Next, we’re going to work on the sign. I found this sign from Dollar Tree. It was cute, but I thought it needed a Christmas makeover.
Glue a piece of scrapbook paper over each circle. The paper should be a little bigger than the circle.
Use a craft knife to trim of the excess paper.
Sand around the edges of the scrapbook paper until they are even with the wood circle.
Apply a layer of Mod Podge over the scrapbook paper and let it dry.
STEP 4: FINISH THE SIGN
Grab the vinyl design and remove the vinyl backing.
Center the design on the circle.
Rub over the design with your scraper.
Then, carefully pull off the transfer tape. Repeat with the other 2 circles.
And that’s it, this project is complete.
