I don’t usually do potpourri, but last year my daughter decided we needed to change that. So, we made up a mixture of stovetop potpourri. I loved how it made my house smell. I loved it so much, I decided it would make a great gift for friends, neighbors, and teachers. I wanted to create a nice way to gift it, so I set out to find some supplies that would make this gift extra cute. I LOVE how it turned out. Not only is it gorgeous to look at, but it also smells amazing. This has turned out to be my most favorite gift to make and give away!
- Wide Mouth Mason Jar Pint Size
- Spice Mix (You can also just use whole cloves)
- Cranberries
- Dried Orange Slices
- Pine Leaves
- Cinnamon Sticks
- Raffia
- Etched Vinyl
- Weeding Tool
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File (available for free in my resource library)
To make the jars, you’ll first add about 1 oz of spice mix to the mason jar. If you don’t want to use the spice mix, you could just use some whole cloves. Then, place 4-5 cinnamon sticks on top of the spice mix (you might need to break or cut them to fit). Next, add some cranberries (about 2 oz) until the jar is about half full. Cut some pine leaves so they’ll fit in the jar and layer 4-5 on top of the cranberries. Finish off the jar by placing a few dried orange slices over the pine leaves. I used the small oranges (called Clementines at my grocery store), they were the perfect size. I wanted thin, even slices, so I cut the orange with a mandoline slicer, Then, I used a food dehydrator to dry them.
Hello. Thank you so much for this project in the file. Approximately how many jars did you get out of this package from Amazon?
What a cute idea! Love this sweet gift idea 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
How long did you make this ahead of time? Does it keep, with the cranberries?
I think about a week. It seems like the cranberries last quite a while.
