Customized kitchen towels are a great gift.  Not only are they inexpensive to make, but they are also super quick and easy to create.  Since Mother’s Day is so close, I thought it would be fun to create a few kitchen towels that are perfect for gifts or to keep in your own kitchen.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO

Start by folding your towel the way you want it to be displayed. This could be in thirds or in quarters, depending on the size of the towel. Use a ruler to determine what size you should make your design. I found these cute towels at Walmart for $1.50 and knew they would be perfect for this project.  I folded my towel in thirds and decided to size the design at 5″ x 4.3″.

Fold the towel in half and iron a crease down the center. This will help you to center the design on your towel.

Open the design in your software program and size it accordingly.  Add a rectangle around the design.  You’ll want the rectangle to be a little larger than the design, like around .5″ bigger.  This is called a weeding box.  Center the design inside the box. Before you cut the design, be sure to mirror it.

Weed away the excess vinyl.  You’ll want to weed out the rectangle and the insides of the letters.

Fold the design in half on the non-sticky side, lining up the edges of the rectangle.  Make several creases along the middle of there carrier sheet where there is no vinyl.

Open up the towel and line up the creases on the carrier sheet with the crease on the towel.

Then, pull off the carrier sheet.  You can flip the towel over and press from the backside.  Your towel is finished!  Wasn’t that easy?
