I saw this cute planter box last year and knew I {one day} wanted to make one. Since spring is here and there are now plenty of flowers blooming, I thought it would be the perfect time to make my own.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED
- Wood Furring Strips (approx. 4″ x 6′)
- Mason Jars
- Vinyl for Stencil (Color doesn’t matter)
- Transfer Tape
- Paint (I used acrylic paints)
- Brad Nailer or Hammer and Nails
- Wood Glue
- Paintbrushes
- Electronic cutter (cricut explore, silhouette or other cutter)
- Cut File (available for free in my resource library)
HERE’S WHAT YOU DO
Use this tutorial to build your box. It’s super easy and you might even have scrap wood laying around you can use to build it.
Once your box is complete, paint the entire box white. Once the paint has dried, paint a coat bright blue paint. Then, lightly sand until you’ve got the look you want.
Open the design in your software and size the design to fit your box. My design measured about 7.5″ x 2.5″. Add a rectangle around the design to create a stencil. Cut the vinyl with your machine, weed, and apply transfer tape. Transfer the design to your box.
Paint a light coat of white over the entire design. This will prevent bleeding.
When the white is dry, fill in the rest of the stencil with the colored paint.
When the paint is dry to the touch, remove the vinyl stencil. Add mason jars and some fresh spring flowers.
Such a fun and inexpensive way to display flowers.
So cute! I just painted an old CD crate to hold mason jars! Life to the full! Melissa @ DaisyMaeBelle
This is adorable and so cheerful– perfect for spring!

A Tossed Salad Life
That is SUCH a cute little planter box! Thanks for sharing at Monday Funday!
Such an adorable planter box and love that you used mason jars. What would the crafting/decorating public do without mason jars? They really look perfect in your planter. The colors and stencil you used really set it off for Spring.
My hubs asks me every time I buy jars at the thrift store why I need more. For one I'm not going to use my good original blue ones I have so I dyed some clear ones to the blue and use them. Such fun to be crafty, loving it all my life.

Very cute! I turned a little crate into a flower box recently with a mod podged image I created. I love this idea that you have shared! Will have to look for, or make, or wooden planter box!!
