There’s something special about receiving a gift that is personalized with your name. Not only does it give you an immediate sense of ownership, but it also lets you know the gifter spent extra time and/or money for the personalization. Back before we had cutting machines, there wasn’t a quick and easy way to personalize gifts. Customization usually required a special order and sometimes would take weeks. But, now that we have Cricuts and Silhouettes, adding names and initials to gifts has never been easier.
Since Valentine’s Day is almost here, I thought it would be fun to put together a post of easy Valentine Gifts you can make and personalize with your Cricut or Silhouette. These gifts were all made from dollar store supplies, so they are also very inexpensive to create. Since they are all so easy to make (most of them took less than 10 minutes) I didn’t think a full tutorial was necessary. Instead, I’ll list the supplies and fonts I used and if needed, a little explanation if on how to make it. Although many of the items I used are no longer available on the website, the stores should still have many of the supplies

Candy Jar w/Monkey

Aren’t these little gifts cute? The monkeys hugging the candy jars are the perfect touch to this Valentine Gift. To make these gifts, cut the vinyl with your Cricut or Silhouette. Then weed the excess vinyl and apply the vinyl names to the jars with transfer tape. Fill the jars with candy and wrap the arms of the plush monkeys around the jars. The monkeys have velcro on their hands so they will stick to each other without any adhesive.

These candy heart containers are so easy to make. Once you’ve typed out your names in your cutting software all you need to do is cut, weed, and apply the vinyl. Since these hearts are already filled with a small piece of candy, that is literally all you need to do! It doesn’t get much easier than that.

I love to etch glass. The items always turn out so pretty and look so custom and professional, these glasses are no exception. The dollar store has a wide variety of clear glass items that can be etched. You can check out a step-by-step tutorial here.

Stuffed animals are the perfect gift for anyone and they’re even more special when you personalized them with a name! For the best results, try to use stuffed animals with short plush. I used red glitter HTV to add the names to these cute animals. The glitter HTV is a little thicker than regular HTV, so you don’t see the texture of the plush through the vinyl. I opted to use an iron instead of my Easy Press. The smaller tip of the iron made it a little easier to apply pressure to the HTV.
Metal Valentine Containers

The dollar store has all kinds of metal buckets, containers, and even cute little mailboxes. Since they are all printed, you can add an outline around all the names to help them pop. Then, cut the vinyl with your Cricut or Silhouette. Then weed the excess vinyl and apply the vinyl names to the jars with transfer tape. Fill the containers with Valentine candy.

Personalized gift baskets are a fun gift that anyone is sure to enjoy. Not only can you fill the basket up with the recipient’s favorite snacks and treats, but you can also use your Cricut or Silhouette to add their name to the front of the container.

These were by far the favorite project at my house. The kids were amazed that I could add names to these sequin flip items. They couldn’t figure out how I did it, probably because they’ve never seen me use Infusible Ink. This was my first project using Infusible Ink and I was so excited about the results. The process for using Infusible Ink is very similar to using HTV. I’ll be doing a full tutorial, soon, but Cricut also has step-by-step instructions. For the pouch, place a couple of pieces of cardstock inside the bag before you press the Infusible Ink. This will help compensate for the seams.

Candy bouquets are a fun way to add something extra to a personalized mug. After you have cut, weeded, and applied the vinyl lettering, place a piece of floral foam in the bottom of the mug. Insert suckers or chocolate hearts glued onto wooden skewers into the floral foam. To finish off the bouquet, place a piece of printed tissue paper or metallic shreds inside the mug to cover up the floral foam.

Personalized plastic tumblers are also wonderful gifts for just about anyone. These tumblers turned out so cute, my girls are so excited to use them! You can add a small white outline around the letters to help them pop. Then cut, weed, and apply the vinyl to the tumblers with transfer tape. You can also add some cute hearts around the letters.

These tic-tac-toe bags are incredibly popular right now and they are so easy to make! One side of the bag has the name, the other side has the tic-tac-toe board. Both are cut from black HTV (don’t forget to mirror before you cut). Place a couple of pieces of cardstock inside the bag before you press the HTV. This will help compensate for the seams. The dollar store had pink and red plastic hearts that you can use for the X’s and O’s (If you can’t find two colors, you can use one color and add X’s and O’s with adhesive vinyl).

Just like metal containers, the dollar store also has all kinds of cute cardboard boxes, containers, and even cute little hearts. Crafters are sometimes worried to put vinyl on paper items because they’re worried the transfer tape will rip the paper. As long as your transfer tape isn’t too sticky, you can put vinyl on all kinds of paper items! These cardboard boxes are the perfect example. To make these gifts, cut the vinyl with your Cricut or Silhouette. Then weed the excess vinyl and apply the vinyl names to the jars with transfer tape. To help the names pop, you can also add a small outline around the names. Then, fill the containers up with candy and these gifts are done!

Did you know the dollar store sells t-shirts? They don’t have a huge selection, but for $1 how can you complain? This shirt is for a girl, so I used red glitter HTV. I think it turned out so cute. When using HTV, always remember to mirror your design before you send it to your Cricut or Silhouette.
