I’ve wanted to try painting a door mat for quite a while, but I didn’t have one on hand and didn’t want to spend a lot of money to buy one. Well, a couple of weeks ago, I was at the dollar store and was so excited to find a stack of door mats. What a great deal!
This is what it started out like.
A spray on primer would have been a good to use, but I didn’t have any, so I just did lots of coats of spray paint to cover up the blue.  Once it was dry, it was time to put on my vinyl stencil.  It definitely took some time and patience to get the vinyl to stick.  Then, I walked over it several times to make sure it was on there good.
I painted a couple coats of blue and let it dry.
When I pulled up the vinyl, I was actually a little surprised how clean the lines were.  I expected a little leakage, but there really wasn’t any.
I think it turned out great! I will definitely be trying this with other seasonal designs.  Hopefully, the dollar store has more of them.
